Rolando Dy Ends Two-fight skid in Brave CF 42

Rolando Dy

After a two-fight losing streak, the Filipino MMA fighter finally breaks to the winning column. The former UFC veteran beat Polish fighter Maciek Gierszewski via split decision.

The 29-year-old DasmariƱas, Cavite native started the fight aggressively. The Polish opponent retaliated with a strong second round.

But it was in the third round when Dy was able to convince the judges to favor his win.

Fighting for a bigger purpose

It was more than just an ordinary fight for the son of former WBC World super featherweight titleholder Rolando Navarrete.

The odds were against Dy. Training during a pandemic, welcoming a new daughter, and fighting on short notice. Fighting on short notice means shorter preparations which is a first for the Filipino MMA fighter.

'I never say no to anyone, I'm always ready to fight, even on short notice," said the former UFC veteran.

Dy was emotional upon hearing the decision as it was dedicated to his newly-born daughter Joy Gabrielle.

"I dedicate this victory to my daughter, Joy Gabrielle, and the youngest son of coach Norman Arenas, Vasyl Luke," emotionally said by Dy.

"May pang gatas na kayong dalawa!" added Dy. In English, it means "you two now have money for milk" which refers to the new-born babies of himself and his coach.

What is next for Dy?

Dy showed the Brave management what he is made of by not just fighting but actually winning on short notice.

This might be a turning point for his career. Dy is only 29 years of age and still has plenty of time to get back to winning ways and turn his career for the better.

Let's hope this will be a turning point in his career and make a come back soon.
