Will UFC 249 finally happen?
UFC 249 was supposed to be big.We were about to see lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov finally face off against Ferguson after numerous weird events that led to multiple cancellations whenever it was about to happen.
The initial plan was to hold it in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center before the COVID-19 pandemic forced the world to take necessary precautions.
Then, they rescheduled to have it at the Tachi Palace Casino Resort on Native American tribal land in California before being cancelled again.
With Khabib still stuck in Russia, the UFC turned to Justin Gaethje to salvage the main event, which is now scheduled on May 9.
The UFC will hold two other events for the same venue in the following week on May 13 and May 16.
