Damian Lillard won't be playing in Sunday's All-Star  game.

The Portland Trail Blazers All-Star point guard suffered a right groin strain in Wednesday night's 104-111 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Lillard is scheduled to have an MRI Thursday.

Lillard endorses Devin Booker as All-Star replacement

The injury forced Lillard to withdraw from the three-point shootout and the All-Star game but plans to attend this weekend's festivities in Chicago.

"Those festivities and having fun. But, health is first,"
Lillard said. "I'll still be there and be apart of it. Unfortunately, I had to be the fall guy, " he added.

Lillard was asked who he'd like to replace him in Sunday's All-Star game to which he replied "Hopefully someone who shoulda been there, but didn't make it."

The first person that he thought of was Phoenix Suns point guard Devin Booker.

Booker's case

Booker is averaging 26.4 points, 6.3 assists and 4.2 rebounds this season for the Suns. He also finished 6th in the fan voting which makes him the biggest All-Starsnub this year.

He told Fox Sports Arizona interviewers that he has "to do some talking" with his family, and that he would "probably" accept if given the opportunity.

"I want to reach out to Dame and make sure he's healthy and make sure his injury is not that serious. That's what I'm worried about right now," Booker said with concern

Unfortunately for Booker, the league has the final say who replaces Lillard in the game. There are two more guards in the east with a strong case as well.
