Giannis Antetokounmpo won't discuss future, calls it "disrespectful" to teammates

Giannis Antetokounmpo doesn't want to discuss free agency

It's no secret that the reigning NBA MVP is going to be a free agent next season.

Giannis Antetokounmpo said he does not want to discuss his impending free agency. The Milwaukee Bucks star said it is "disrespectful" towards his team-mates.

Antetokounmpo is contracted with the Bucks until 2020-21 and his future plans have been highly talked about since this offseason.

Speculations are sparking around the league about the possible landing spots for the Greek Freak.

Focused on the upcoming season

"I'm not gonna talk about it a lot this season, and I'm not going to try to address it," Antetokounmpo said when asked about his impending free agency.

Antetokounmpo is eligible to sign a five-year, $253.75million supermax extension with the Bucks next offseason. He can choose to decline that option but it seems unlikely given how he expressed his contentment with his current team.

The reigning MVP is focused on the upcoming season and possibly winning back-to-back MVP trophies.

Milwaukee made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals but fell short to eventual NBA champions the Toronto Raptors in six games.

Eyeing for a championship

"I feel like if you have a great team, and our goal is to win a championship and be the last team standing and get better each day, I think it's disrespectful towards my team-mates talking about my free agency and what I'm going through," Antetokounmpo explained.

Now is not the right time according to him. He's more focused on winning a championship especially with the Bucks' reinforced lineup this coming season.

The Bucks open their season against another reinforced team in the Houston Rockets on October 24. We'll also get to see how the Rockets are going to mesh with an upgraded Bucks team.
