A WBO welterweight title fight has been in talks and arranged by Top Rank and the Premier Boxing Champions. Fight will be on November 20 at Las Vegas Michelob Ultra Center at Mandalay Bay.
A long awaited fight for eager champions
33 year old fighter from Omaha, Nebraska, Terence Crawford is hungry for his next fight.
Having been on break for four months and not fighting since November of 2020 because of the pandemic, he’s expecting something big this year and now he has. November 20 is going to be a big day for Crawford (who has 37-0, 28 KOs) as he will go up against Shawn Porter.
Errol Spence Jr., Keith Thurman, Danny Garcia, Yordenis Ugas and Manny Pacquiao are just a handful of the welterweights he has defeated. Then Porter becomes the man who can secure Crawford's position as the greatest fighter in the division and further strengthen his standing as one of the finest pound for pound fighters.
At the same time, 32-year-old Porter from Akron, Ohio, is 31-3-1 and has faced off against virtually everyone. He's beaten Ugas, Garcia, Andre Berto, Adrien Broner, and Paulie Malignaggi, but he's lost to Brook and Thurman by a narrow margin.
Will he be able to achieve what no one else in boxing has ever done: deliver Crawford his first loss in his professional career?
The fighting style counts and will affect their title
As part of its coverage of the fight, ESPN spoke with former two-division champion Timothy Bradley Jr., Diego Magdaleno (who faced Crawford three times as an amateur), and Marco Antonio Periban (who fought Porter as an amateur). It's clear that Porter is Crawford's toughest welterweight opponent, and I think Porter's hardest opponent is Crawford," Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti told Yahoo Sports. "Wow, what a struggle. Something big is on the way."
Although Porter is taller than Crawford at 5'7", Crawford will have a reach advantage of about five inches over Porter at 5'8". The question is, who do you believe will win in the end? stay tuned to find out . Be sure to mark the date on your calendars for November 20th. May the toughest fighter rise!
