A bright season seems to be coming for the Manchester United in what should be sort of a fresh start for them this Premier League season.

The Red Devils walked away with a 4-0 victory over Chelsea in the final game of the new Premier League Season’s opening weekend.

Sunday’s marquee meeting was the biggest this weekend and it certainly didn’t disappoint in terms of drama.

It was Chelsea’s biggest opening day defeat in the Premier League era.

A statement win by Man United

United walked away with a dominant 4-0 win over the Londoners. Marcus Rashford scored two goals while Anthony Martial and debutant Daniel James contributed a goal each.

Chelsea surprisingly started the game with American Christian Pulisic surprisingly on the bench. The club signed Pulisic in the hopes of filling in the void that Eden Hazard left after signing with Real Madrid.

It was Tammy Abraham who was making things work for Chelsea in the first half. The striker almost gave his team an early lead but his shot attempt just rattled the post.

Rashford would then break the ice after scoring a penalty from a Kurt Zouma foul. The Red Devils never looked back since.

Anthony Martial scored a header from point blank range coming from Andreas Pereira’s cross as it went past Chelsea backstop Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Paul Pogba did his magic again at midfield as he made a through-ball pass to Rashford to score his second goal.

Daniel James would make a statement after being subbed in as he completed the rout with a debut goal towards the end.

Solskjaer doing a good job

United has seen better days during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's take over as their manager.

It was a badly needed week 1 as since the club was not able to sign a marquee player during the recently closed transfer window.

The Red Devils probably salvaged a dry summer despite possibly overpaying for Harry Maguire when they spent almost $100 million to sign the English center back. He did a good job on Sunday though.

Maguire not only kept Chelsea off the scoreboard, the play that led to the Red Devils’ second goal started from him as well.

Though it’s too early to conclude Maguire’s contributions as a consistent thing, only time will tell if Solskjaer did a good job with his acquisition.

Why didn't Christian Pulisic play?

Chelsea signed Pulisic for a transfer fee of $73 million during the transfer window. The American attacker had started the final four preseason matches for the team.

It was shoking though why first-year Chelsea boss Frank Lampard didn’t include the former Borussia Dortmund man in his initial 11 for the game.

Opinions have been circling around that Lampard wanted a more defensive-minded lineup while some believed Pulisic has a minor injury that is yet to be disclosed.

Lampard went with veteran Ross Barkley for his starting 11 and only summoned Pulisic to replace Barkley when Chelsea became in dire need of a goal.

The strategy backfired for Lampard’s side as United scored its final three goals after the Pulisic checked in.

What ever the plan is for the U.S. Men's National Team star is yet to be seen as the season progesses.
