Arsenal and Chelsea will meet in an all-English Europa League final

Premier League teams Arsenal and Chelsea are set for an all-English Europa League final after winning their respective matches.

Arsenal beat Valencia while Chelsea beat Eintracht Frankfurt to secure a spot at the Europa league final.

The Gunners shot down Valencia in its home turf 4-2 while Chelsea had to go through a nervy penalty shootout win at Stamford Bridge.

A historic night

Another all-English final is set to happen in the Champions League as Tottenham secured an all-English champions league final against Liverpool.

It was the first time in history where all four finalists across both competitions come from the same country. The feat is historic for both English and European football.

Arsenal beats Valencia

Valencia trailed 3-1 after the first leg. The team put pressure on its English league counterparts early on after a brilliant counter attack from Kevin Gameiro to put the hosts in front.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang evened things six minutes later using his speed to score an emphatic strike into the bottom corner.

Alexandre Lacazette and Lucas Torreira played significant roles for Arsenal as well.

Gameiro,
who won three successive Europa League titles with Sevilla side, got one back for Valencia after rounding Petr Cech.

Midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles set up Aubameyang at the near post for his second goal of the night.

Aubameyang would then score his
29th goal of the season as he smashed into the roof of the net from Henrikh Mkhitaryan's through ball. He rounded off a 7-3 aggregate win with his hat-trick.

Chelsea beats Frankfurt

On the other side of the bracket, Chelsea made the breakthrough in the 28th minute after Ruben Loftus-Cheek scored his 10th goal of the season.

Frankfurt hit back at their home turf just four minutes after the break. Mijat Gacinovic put through the highly sought-after Luka Jovic who was free to simply place it past Kepa.

The score stayed tied for the rest of normal time. Frankfurt almost broke that tie early in extra time but Sebastien Haller’s header was cleared off the line by Davide Zappacosta.

Cesar Azpilicueta almost put Chelsea into the final, but his goal was ruled out for a push on goalkeeper Kevin Trapp before the ball ended up in the back of the net.

The game had to be decided in a shootout where Eden Hazard won the game for Chelsea fifth penalty in the shootout.

The blues secured a 4-3 win at shootout.
